esure is the fifth largest motor insurer in the UK with over 1.8m motor and home policyholders. It was established in 2000 by Peter Wood, founder of Direct Line, in a joint venture with Halifax plc.
In February 2010 Penta Capital backed Peter Wood and his team to complete the MBO of esure from Lloyds Banking Group plc. Tosca Penta Investments LP, a new fund managed by Penta Capital, was established from a broad range of institutional investors, and invested £190m in the all equity transaction which was valued in line with esures current net asset value.
